Wealth Manager Nabs Fixed Income Vet, Team From MSSB In NY

Florida-based Chilton Trust Management has lured fixed income veteran Timothy Horan from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, along with a team of four fixed income investment professionals from MSSB and Moody’s Investor Services.

Horan is a managing director and chief investment officer at MSSB Fixed Income Investment Advisors and joins the New York-based Chilton Private Clients affiliate on 3 January 2012. He will work closely with Richard Chilton, chairman of Chilton Trust and CPC, who will continue to serve as chief investment officer – equities.

Horan was at MSSB for over 10 years and worked at the firm’s London and New York offices, leading fixed income portfolio management services for high net worth private clients, charities, endowments and family offices.

Joining with Horan are Debra Crovicz, William McNaught and Nicholas Rafferty – also from MSSB – and Jessica Lamendola, from Moody's Investor Service. The whole team will be based in New York.

Crovicz and McNaught were long-time colleagues of Horan’s at MSSB and oversaw $3 billion in municipal assets and $3 billion in US taxable and international fixed income respectively. They have both been appointed senior vice president. Rafferty was a fixed income trader at MSSB and joins his new firm as a vice president and junior portfolio manager. Lamendola has been hired as a senior research associate and most recently worked as a credit analyst at Moody’s.

In addition to the hires, Chilton has signed an agreement with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney which allows Horan and his team to continue to provide fixed income management services to their existing clients by acting as a sub-advisor on the MSSB Global Investment Services platform.

Chilton Trust Management was formed just over a year ago by Chilton Investment Company. Garrison Lickle, a former managing director at Barclays Wealth, was appointed to lead the business as president and chief executive.
